Neem Metabolites Structure Database is a free, fully integrated metabolites structure database designed by Vittal Mallya Scientific Research Foundation(VMSRF).
Neem tree (Azadirachta indica A. Juss), native to Indian sub-continent, has long been recognized for its pesticidal and medicinal properties. The extent of scientific exploration of Neem has been so extensive that, it has gained the distinction of being most researched tree in the world. Various biological properties of Neem are due to a large number of secondary plant metabolites found in various parts of the tree. Major constituents of its metabolite pool such as Azadirachtin, Azadirone, Gedunin, Meliacarpin, Nimbin, Salannin, Vilasinin groups have been proved to be good pesticidal compounds. Recent studies have also shown that crude extracts of Neem are more potent than pure Azadirachtin implying that there are more compounds in the extract which even at low concentration are highly potent.
Our database gives one click access to information about the metabolites of Neem. We have presented neem metabolites along with their structures, various physico-chemical properties and biological activity with appropriate references. It will serve as an easier and systematic way to access all the information regarding Neem secondary metabolite which will be just be a click away.
